Estonian authorities have decided to ban the installation and use of the TikTok app on government-issued smartphones for government officials.
As reported by Ukrinform, this was reported by ERR.
“This month, (TikTok usage – ed.) will be banned on all centrally managed devices,” said Kristian Jarvan, Estonia’s Minister of IT and Foreign Trade.
According to him, “we will not interfere” if an officer uses his private phone at work.
As reported, in December the upper house of the US Congress unanimously voted in favor of a bill banning the use of the app. TikTok on government phones and devices, due to the dependence of the security and social network on Chinese manufacturers.
TikTok has also been banned on official devices in Canada, Belgium, France, India, Denmark, Czech Republic, UK, and New Zealand. A similar ban is planned in the Netherlands.
At the same time, TikTok vehemently denied allegations that it had handed over user data to the Chinese government.
