The FAW brand is unknown in Brazil, but it already has joint ventures with major global automakers such as Volkswagen and Toyota in China. The company is also responsible for the partnership with Xiaomi, which resulted in the Bestune T77 SUV, a model already known in the Brazilian market.
Bestune E05 is a five-seat electric minivan designed for passenger transportation by taxi or mobile car. Most of the sales will be for B2B (Business to Business) companies. However, according to the director of FAW Motors Brasil Cadu Barbosa, there will also be direct sales, although this is not the main activity.
The Bestune E05 engine is provided by Huawei and develops 163 hp. and 15.8 kgf, which makes it more powerful than its main rival BYD D1, which reaches 136 hp. Both cars have lithium-iron-phosphate batteries, but Bestune has a 55 kWh battery, which guarantees a range of up to 419 km – against 371 km for the BYD D1. On fast charging, the car can accelerate from 20 to 80% in 40 minutes.
Other vehicle features include power sliding rear doors for easy access for second-row passengers, as well as equipment such as cruise control, regenerative braking, rearview camera, traction and stability control, leather seats, heated driver’s seat, 10-inch multimedia center with Bluetooth connection, four USB ports and a germicidal lamp capable of destroying germs inside in 40 minutes.
The Bestune E05 will be imported from China and is expected to be launched in the second half of this year with an estimated price of around R$280,000, almost R$10,000 more than the BYD D1. FAW also plans to launch the B70 sedan and its B70S SUV version, both expected in the first half of 2024.
