GIGABYTE BRIX is a line of compact computers from a Taiwanese manufacturer. Another alternative to the Intel NUC that set the pace for Mini-PCs and now expands with cheaper Intel processors for desktop computers.

The new GIGABYTE BRIX will be sold in three versions depending on the CPU selected from the Intel N series: BRIX BNIP-N100, BNIP-N200 and BNi3-N305. The first two use Intel N100 and N200 processors. The third, the most interesting in terms of performance, is equipped with a Core i3-N305 CPU with 8 cores / 8 threads, 6 MB cache and a working frequency of up to 3.8 GHz. Its integrated graphics is Intel UHD with 32 execution units and a frequency of 1.25 GHz, its TDP consumption is 15 watts.

GIGABYTE took the opportunity to update the physical design of their mini-PCs and they are wider but shorter and thinner with dimensions (164 x 117 x 29 mm), which in any case remain very closed and allow installation anywhere on a table, on walls or behind VESA-supported monitors. We also see them as more visually appealing. Let’s say these three configurations have active cooling with heatsinks, hot air vents, and a fan.

The new BRIX can equip up to 32 GB of memory DDR4-3200 MHz RAM with one memory slot. Enough for these teams, although a second slot wouldn’t hurt. Better in the storage section, with two M.2 PCIe 4.0 connectors for installing SSDs.

Very complete in connectivity with:

  • M.2 2230 connector for wireless support, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3.
  • Ethernet LAN 2.5 GbE.
  • 2 HDMI 2.0 ports.
  • 1x DisplayPort 1.4.
  • 1 USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C.
  • 2 USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type A.
  • 3x USB 2.0 Type-A.
  • Combined 3.5mm audio jack.
  • Power connector.

Availability and price have not been announced by the manufacturer, but they should be available immediately at a quite cheap price as well as other mini-PCs that have been launched with Intel N, the chip giant’s cheapest processors and which are ideal for compact computers with low consumption and price.
