Sandra Rivera, head of Intel’s Data Center and Artificial Intelligence group, acknowledged the company’s recent challenges, but confirmed that Intel is currently on the right track with key engineering milestones. The fourth-generation Xeon processor Sapphire Rapids faced lags and allowed AMD to close the gap. Rivera has confirmed that Emerald Rapids’ fifth-generation Xeon processor will be delivered by the end of 2023. The next-generation Granite Rapids processor is scheduled to launch in 2024, followed by Sierra Forest. Another energy-efficient Clearwater Forest chip is scheduled to hit the market in 2025.
Intel is also developing the Intel Developer Cloud, which includes 256 Xeon chips and 512 Gaudi chips for AI applications. AI startups Hugging Face and Stable Diffusion already use Intel chips.
