Samsung, in collaboration with the Spanish Confederation of Autism and other organizations involved with this disorder, has developed an app that allows external monitoring of decibels to isolate certain sounds in a personalized way. The project aims to minimize the inconvenience that noise can cause to these people.
Although specially designed for this population, the app will be made available to all users. promise to shut upautomatically, sounds that can disturb us on a daily basis.
Unfear, Samsung’s “sound airbag”
Samsung has announced Unfear, an app that will soon be available for all phones (except Samsung) on the Play Store and Galaxy Store. Android 10 or higher. Specially designed to work with Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro and active noise canceling feature.
Beyond noise canceling, this app promises to automatically mute annoying sounds.
The application has been developed for the following purposes: protect from noises that may be disturbing. What is impressive is that it promises to do this automatically, analyze outside sounds and activate the protection system configured by the user himself. So you can hear siren sounds, subway sounds, workplaces, barking dogs, ambulances, crying children etc. It has the ability to mute sounds.
It not only promises to isolate these sounds, but also modulates the sound output of the headphones in real time to avoid sudden changes in sound. Specifically, the application has five operating modes:
- Sounds mode. This mode corresponds to the smart noise cancellation feature of the app. Artificial Intelligence is responsible for detecting sounds that have been configured as annoying by the user and automatically activates noise cancellation when they occur. The purpose of this function is to protect the autistic person’s ears when there are disturbing noises outside.
- Concentration mode. This mode allows the user to focus on a task without being distracted. Only your voice can pause external noise cancellation when you want to have a conversation or hear what’s going on around you.
- Mobile content mode. This mode reduces the bass and treble frequencies of the content played by the mobile phone. The purpose of this function is that the user can enjoy music, movies, RRSS and video games without acoustic stress.
- calm mode. Just by pressing the button, a sound pre-loaded in the app will be played immediately. The purpose of this function is to be able to help and comfort the user in the middle of a possible crisis.
- SOS button. By pressing this button Unfear will make an automatic call to the emergency contact previously selected in the app.
While the app is specifically for people with ASD, isolating ourselves from loud noises (dogs, barking, crying, etc.) can be more than interesting. This app will be available soon and for now It will be exclusive to Android.
