As reported by Ukrinform, reported Space.com.
The map shows the Red Planet through the eyes of Hope’s state-of-the-art onboard image processing system, Emirates Exploration Imager (EXI).
“As part of the new and improved Mars Atlas we are working on, we plan to make our map available to the entire planet. It will be available in both English and Arabic after publication. We hope this accessibility will make it a great tool for researchers as well as students to learn more about Mars and showcase the opportunities the UAE space sector has to offer,” said NYUAD team leader and researcher Dimitra Atri.
To create this map, Atri and his team took more than 3,000 EXI observations taken over a Martian year, the equivalent of two Earth years, and combined them to create a color combination.
The resulting map shows many of the Red Planet’s major geological features in high resolution.
As reported by Ukrinform, the United Arab Emirates’ space probe “Hope” (Arabic – Al Amal or English – Hope) was launched in July 2020.
