For Windows 11, rather strict system requirements have been announced, which caused a wave of criticism from owners of not the latest computers. Interestingly, even within Microsoft, this OS is used on unsupported hardware.
During a recent presentation of the updated task manager, attentive users noticed something interesting: a computer where innovations were demonstrated, built with an Intel Core i7-7660U processor. And while it’s still a reasonably capable chip, the model doesn’t officially support Windows 11 installations, as the OS requirements specify 8th generation or newer processors.

There are unofficial ways to run Windows 11 on non-compliant devices, including by making changes to the registry. However, the fact that even Microsoft employees have to use workarounds to run Windows 11 on their hardware clearly points to a blunder by the Redmond corporation.
Devices that don’t meet the minimum system requirements experience 52% more crashes, according to Microsoft. In the case of the corresponding equipment, 99.8% uptime is indicated.
