The HP 930 Creator is a comfortable wireless mouse with flexible buttons that is also suitable for larger hands. The ease with which you switch between devices with the mouse is perhaps its greatest advantage.
The HP 930 Creator is a wireless mouse. You charge the thing via USB, but a connection via cable is not possible. That’s not too bad, because according to HP, the battery lasts twelve weeks and charging takes minutes, not hours. It is difficult for us to check whether the specification of twelve weeks is correct. At least we didn’t have to charge the mouse during our testing period, so we tend to believe HP. Anyway, the battery is good.
The mouse hides a small USB-A dongle that can be used to connect the device to desktops or older laptops. Newer high-end devices often no longer have USB Type-A, which in our opinion limits the usefulness of the dongle.
Of course, this mouse is also only Bluetooth compatible. We tested the device ourselves with various Windows 11 Pro systems and were able to connect the HP 930 Creator smoothly every time. You connect by first long-pressing the Bluetooth button on the mouse until a light starts blinking. Did the job in seconds.
If you press the same button briefly, you switch between three connection channels: the dongle and two Bluetooth channels. Each channel can be combined with another computer. They connect as described above by long pressing the button when the light of the desired channel is on.
The approach works smoothly. We successfully switched between different computers with the push of a button. The mouse remembers which channel was last active and automatically connects when the corresponding computer is within range.
We also praise the design. The HP 930 Creator is not too small and therefore fits perfectly in our slightly larger hands. On the thumb, the Bluetooth button is on the back, always within reach but high enough so you don’t accidentally press it. Three more buttons are also on the side, but more in front. You can use them for all sorts of things, e.g. B. “Previous” and “Next” or Windows-specific tasks.
You can customize the functionality of the buttons via HP Accessory Center: An app from the Windows Store. There you can, for example, link the buttons to media functions or open Windows functions such as the overview of open programs.
Finally, there’s the scroll wheel and there’s a button too. This allows you to choose whether you want the wheel to scroll step by step or let it roll completely freely. The feedback from the stepped scrolling is pleasant and provides the necessary precision.
HP itself is proud of the sensor on the underside of the mouse, which has to work on many surfaces. A mouse pad is superfluous, it sounds like that, and we can confirm that. In fact, our mouse pad is the only surface on which the mouse does not work optimally. We notice a tiny bit of sloppiness in response, but this barely noticeable issue only occurs with a mouse pad. The mouse works perfectly on all other surfaces.
The HP 930 Creator Wireless Mouse is a top-of-the-line product that works comfortably with two to three devices. So you can easily switch between laptop and desktop or simply share the mouse without having to reconnect via the Windows menu. HP brings a high-quality and functional product to the market that feels good and does what it is supposed to. That’s all it should be for a mouse.
HP 930 Creator Wireless Mouse – $68.99.
