AWS is making VPC Lattice generally available. The solution automates the connection between different services across instances and containers, taking policies into account.
AWS Introduces Amazon VPC Lattice in General Availability. Lattice is a solution included with Amazon Virtual Private Cloud that makes it easier to securely connect different services.
Establishing connections between microservices can be an intensive task, but Lattice handles most of the configuration work. Discovery runs automatically even when components are running in separate container clusters on different instances. Lattice is also able to provide connectivity for serverless (Lamda) functions. Finally, VPC Lattice helps create various isolated ones virtual private cloudconnect networks.
price and availability
Automation is intended to simplify the work of IT specialists. The solution is available in multiple AWS Regions, including Europe (Ireland) with us. Lattice is free for up to 300,000 requests per hour. From then on, the service will be charged, but only for requests over this limit. AWS charges 11 cents per million requests in Europe and an additional 2.7 cents per hour per gigabyte. It is possible to gradually roll out VPC Lattice, connecting some applications automatically and others manually.
