Microsoft added this Monday (3) a new feature to Microsoft Teams. The background image tool is designed to enhance existing Teams virtual backgrounds. This feature improves the sharpness and clarity of the background around the face, head, ears, and hair.

In the novelty, the user can adjust several parameters so that the virtual background does not blur the person’s face when he moves. The novelty works more effectively with a flat back wall, without stains and other irregularities, said Jan Steberl, manager of Microsoft Teams. “Users must apply a background effect to Teams meetings to enable the green screen effect, and must choose the background color carefully so that the effect is applied correctly and the best quality is achieved.” the wearer’s clothing, which creates contrast and makes it easier to apply the effect.
How to enable green background:
To enable a green background in Microsoft Teams, the user must first open the program;
After joining the meeting, click the More icon on the meeting toolbar;
Select the “Video Effects” option;
Find the “Green Screen Settings” option under “Background” and activate the switch;
Click on the background icon and move the mouse cursor to the “View” option and manually select a color;
Return to the meeting.
According to Microsoft, this feature introduces support for Windows and macOS devices with Intel chips. Unfortunately, devices with AMD chipsets and Macs with M1 or M2 chips cannot use this feature yet.
Create a 3D avatar in Microsoft Teams
Microsoft recently introduced a new Microsoft Teams feature: the ability to create a 3D avatar that responds to emojis sent during meetings. Avatars work based on the user’s voice information, copying the opening of the mouth as soon as they perceive the beginning of speech. Because they capture the voice, the tool works great even in situations where the user’s device does not have a webcam.
If the user uses this feature to raise their hand during a meeting, their avatar will also raise their hand. If you send a “thumbs up” emoji, the avatar will move and send a thumbs up to other members. The tool was created using Microsoft Mesh, a collaboration platform that includes virtual avatars adapted from Microsoft’s acquisition of AltspaceVR.
