A few days ago AM5 motherboards with the A620 chipset were presented, which is a very important move by AMD, because these boards are aimed at the low-end and cover a level that has not had any renewal for a long time. As we told you then, the starting price for these boards will be $85and depending on the quality of the materials and the characteristics of each model, there should be a scale up to $100 and $125.

I still can’t confirm the selling price in Spain, but with a classic exchange transaction and VAT application we would be talking about starting price about 90 euros at bestand up to 149 euros for motherboards with the A620 chipset with better design, higher quality and a higher level of functions.

Motherboards with the A620 chipset will have the same design, build quality and feature set much more modest than motherboards B650 and higher, that’s clear, but in general it will be a very interesting option to build a powerful PC based on Ryzen 7000 and with DDR5 memory without the need for large investments. This is where its main value lies. in savingsand the point is that, except for promotional offers, the cheapest motherboards with socket AM5 are at least around 200 euros.

However, we must be clear about its limitations, and AMD wanted to be the first to avoid any doubts that could lead users astray when building its new PC. The Sunnyvale giant emphasized that these motherboards will come with a VRM power system that will “ideal” for 65 watt processors. This means that we can easily fit all non-X Ryzen 7000 series models that AMD has released.

In case the user chooses to mount CPU with higher TDP can work, everything will depend on the AGESA BIOS we installed, but it can happen big performance drop in multithreading due to insufficient power that would prevent the processor from deploying the full potential of its turbo mode. It will hardly be noticeable in games, but it would be noticeable in more advanced multi-threaded applications and environments.

As an example, AMD recommends motherboards with the A620 chipset processors such as Ryzen 5 7600 and Ryzen 7 7700, and also for the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, as we can see in the attached image, although it is curious because it has a 120-watt TDP listed on AMD’s own official website. For the price and performance, it is clear that these boards are an ideal companion for the Ryzen 5 7600, which has 6 cores and 12 threads and can be purchased from 231 euros in its refurbished version.
