Microsoft will soon launch the Surface Dock 3, a Docking station which has already been listed on eBay and with which we would like to start because it will be thinner and lighter than the previous generation, more compatible thanks to the universality of a port like USB Type-C and at a quite reasonable price under the barrier of 40 dollars.
Microsoft’s own-brand Surface line of hardware has continued to improve in recent years. If personal computers are best known with Surface Pro as the star, because it is a great world reference in the “2 in 1” category, it must be said that the company from Redmond offers other types of products such as peripherals and accessories.
The first “Dock” in the series hit the market in 2015, the second version will come in 2020. Now comes the Surface Dock 3, which will appeal to users who require a useful and inexpensive expansion base. The big news is removing the surface mount port. And it’s quite an achievement… In the times we live in, manufacturers can’t go “on their own” and use proprietary connectors that are incompatible with the rest of the industry and that ultimately limit their functionality. And the sales themselves.
In front of the proprietary connectors we see the port USB Type-C which will work with any brand of PC and will also be very fast with additional support for Thunderbolt 4 from intel The Surface Dock 3 will have two Type-C ports on the back and two additional USB Type-A ports to further increase compatibility. It also features two ports on the front, Type-C and Type-A, with a USB Type-C hardwired cable connecting to the computer.
Connectivity is complemented by an Ethernet LAN port, a headphone output and a DC power connector. From what we can see in the pictures posted on eBay, it is noticeable thinner than the previous generation.
To say that these expansion bases are very useful when we need to increase the connectivity on the desktop and also allow better management of all the cabling. The (unofficial) price of Microsoft’s new dock is 39 dollars. Within everyone’s reach.
