This feature may seem useful as it speeds up the opening of the programs you need. However, this is not the case when you have a cheap and underperforming PC. In this case, it may take a few minutes for Windows to start up and the computer will hang for a while.

first method

This option is suitable for those who want to get rid of autostart. just one program. If it can start automatically, there is a corresponding item in its settings to enable or disable it.

  • Go to the program settings.
  • This option is usually hidden under “General”, “Main” or “Startup” if they are grouped by sections. It can be found in Telegram for a computer, in the block “Advanced” – “Integration into the system”.
  • Uncheck the appropriate autorun – it could be a checkmark or switch.
  • Save the changes if they don’t happen automatically.

second method

If you need to do this with several programs, it is also convenient to do it with the help of built-in Windows capabilities.

  • In the lower taskbar, right-click on the clock or language block.
  • Select “Task Manager” from the menu. It can be opened compressed or expanded. If you only see a few or no apps, click the More details button at the bottom of the window. Then the full version will open.
  • Look for Autoload in the top tabs. This is a list of all programs that you can enable or disable startup on startup. For easier search, sort the programs by status by clicking the word “Status” in one of the columns. The programs will then be grouped according to the On/Off indicator.
  • To change the status, right-click on the desired program and select “Enable” or “Disable”.
  • Completed

Third method

Unfortunately, not all applications working with the system can be disabled from the computer settings. You will need to use third-party programs for some system operations. Sysinternals, a Microsoft subsidiary, offers a small free utility called Autoruns for this purpose.

  • Download the ZIP archive from Autoruns, extract it and run Autoruns.exe.
  • You will immediately see the full list of applications that open automatically when you turn on the computer.
  • By going to the “Home” tab, you can disable all scripts that you do not need initially, but still load the system. For example, OneDrive, Chrome Update, Microsoft Edge autostart, etc. you can disable it.
