22-year-old student Millie Houlton from the University of York Saint John in England used artificial intelligence ChatGPTdeveloped Open AI, write a letter and cancel the ticket for violating traffic rules. The ticket was issued by the police for failing to provide proof of parking at the location where his car was located.

ChatGPT is a chatbot designed to give human-like answers to almost any question based on a large set of data provided to it. While the quality of the responses may vary depending on the information provided, ChatGPT proved helpful to Houlton, who turned to the chatbot for help writing a letter to challenge the fine.

Houlton provided the chatbot with all the necessary information, including where and when the fine was issued, why she believes she was fined unfairly, and a link to the fine. Minutes later, ChatGPT provided a personalized response explaining that Holton had bought a two-year parking voucher at that particular location and that he intentionally didn’t park where he shouldn’t have.

A reply was sent to the local authorities and Holton was informed that the £74 fine had been waived.
