Ministry of Justice US and FBI announced on Wednesday an investigation into the death of a 17-year-old black teenager who was shot and killed by a police officer last month in Washington.

Federal authorities made the announcement a day after US Park Police release the bodycam footage of the agent who killed the young Dalaneo Martin.

The events took place on March 18, when agents from the Park Police and the Washington Metropolitan Police was present at the alleged car theft by a teenager.

The footage shows how one of the police officers got into the back seat of the car to arrest Martin. who started the car and fled with a policeman inside.

The policeman threatened to shoot the teenager if he did not stop, but when he did not comply, he shot him several times in the back, killing him instantly.

This is stated in the statement of the US Attorney’s Office distributed by local media. images “extremely disturbing” and announced that it had launched an investigation with the FBI into a possible violation of Martin’s civil rights.

“The loss of a life is always tragic, but especially heartbreaking when it comes to a minor,” the agency said in a statement.
