Samsung is said to launch the next iteration of the Galaxy SmartTag tracker later this year, and reports suggest that the new device will have significant improvements in several features. The second-generation SmartTag is said to have a longer wireless range than the previous model, better security features to prevent unauthorized tracking, and longer battery life.

One of the major issues with the original SmartTag was that it only worked with other Samsung products. No word yet on whether this exclusivity will continue with the new SmartTag. However, the device is expected to come with improved SmartThings integration to make it easier for users to keep track of their stuff.

According to Korean news outlet Naver, Samsung plans to introduce the new SmartTag at the Galaxy Unpacked event in August. Other Samsung products such as Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Buds 3 are also expected to be introduced at the event.

Galaxy Buds 3 is another long-awaited release from Samsung. However, details on these updated generation headphones are scarce at the moment. It is unclear what improvements or new features Samsung is preparing for the Galaxy Buds 3.

Meanwhile, Google is also reportedly planning to launch its own smart tracker codenamed “grogu” at the annual Google I/O developer conference in May. This move is expected to increase competition in the smart tracker market.
