Tajani, a former ally of Berlusconi in Forza Italia, said the businessman had endured a number of health problems.

Berlusconi last stepped down as prime minister in 2011 over a scandal. including his notorious “bunga bunga” parties, when Italy was close to a Greek-style debt crisis.
