A survey released by SellCell this Thursday (6th) showed that Samsung Galaxy S23 has lost almost half of its market value in the last two months. The figures show that the new device from the South Korean company has lost about 43.3% in price since launch.

Even with the high percentage of depreciation in the market, the Samsung Galaxy S23 was not the most devalued cell phone during this period. This is because the results reported by SellCell show that Google’s Pixel 7 leads the list with a value 45.9% below launch..

While the first two on the list come with price drops close to 50%, that doesn’t mean it’s an exclusive issue for Android phones. The results show that the iPhone 14 also dropped significantly in value, depreciating by 31%..

A more detailed table shows which devices from the S23, iPhone 14 and Pixel 7 lineup have been hit the hardest by the price drop. Interestingly, the 1TB Galaxy S23 Ultra, the top-end version of the South Korean company’s cell phone, was the most depreciated over the period, at 52.7% of the value.

Galaxy S23 is better than S22 and iPhone 14 is worse than iPhone 13

The Galaxy S23 sales figures significantly outperform its Galaxy S22 predecessor over the same time period. While the two phones are similar in terms of launch, the S22 lost three times as much value as the new iPhone 13 in the same period. This indicates that the S23 has achieved significant success in the market.

While it outperformed its Pixel 7 and Galaxy S23 rivals, the iPhone 14 line didn’t perform as well as the iPhone 13 six months after launch. On average, Series 14 lost 31.5% of its value in six months, and Series 13 lost 25.8% of its value in the same period for nearly new phones.
