Mail attachments are stored in OneDrive since February 1st. This can prevent free users from using OneDrive because their storage limit has been exceeded.
On February 1, Microsoft made changes to the storage space arrangement for free 365 accounts, but users were unaware of it. The Microsoft and Reddit forums reach several questions and complaints about users who are no longer able to use OneDrive. No more mails can be sent or received because the memory is full.
As a free 365 user, you previously received 15 GB of storage space for Outlook and an additional 5 GB for OneDrive. However, since February 1st, email attachments have also been included in OneDrive storage. This can cause OneDrive to fill up faster. Once the limit is exceeded, there is no more room for incoming and outgoing mail traffic, even if it seems like you have a lot of space left.
Free users aren’t too keen on the changes, which most are only now beginning to feel. Because suddenly they can no longer send e-mails. Thus, scammed users see it as a form of harassment by Microsoft to force paid subscriptions. Even with the cheapest formula (5.10 euros per month) you already get 50 GB of Outlook storage and 1 TB of OneDrive storage. If you don’t want to pay, you have to clean your mailbox more regularly.
Personalized domains
Microsoft is also announcing changes for private users that affect both private and family subscriptions. Beginning November 30, subscribers will no longer be able to create a new email address for a custom domain associated with their mailbox. You have been warned about this.
