On Monday morning, Western Digital reported a security incident affecting the operation of its cloud services. Since then, the storage specialist’s warehouse has been quiet.
Western Digital issued a press release Monday morning about a security incident after users of My Cloud services have been affected since the weekend. The manufacturer of hard drives and storage solutions confirmed unauthorized external access to some systems. Because an investigation had been launched, Western Digital did not want to reveal too many details.
The company adheres to this, because since the official announcement on Monday morning, the company has been silent in all languages. This is particularly annoying for My Cloud users. The service has been offline for five days, with little indication of when the platform will be operational again.
The status page, on which Western Digital promised to communicate about the incident, has also not been updated since April 3. All we are allowed to know is that My Cloud, My Cloud Home, My Cloud Home Duo, My Cloud OS 5, SanDisk ibi, SanDisk Ixpand Wireless Charger Service are all down.
Western Digital should be more open about what exactly is going on and when it expects to bring its cloud services back online. We’ve sent a request for a reply, but it hasn’t been answered yet. We are closely monitoring the situation and will update this article as more information becomes available.
