Are you still using the older version of Windows 10? Microsoft recommends upgrading to Windows 11 as soon as possible, although you can of course simply install a newer version of Windows 10.
Microsoft reminds us once again that it will not continue to support Windows 10 indefinitely. For Windows 10 21H2 the support period ends very soon. On June 13th, this version of Windows 10 will receive a final security update.
Windows 10 21H2 was the major feature update Microsoft rolled out in Fall 2021. End of Support applies to Home, Pro, Pro Education and Pro for Workstations versions.
For those who were still using Windows 10 21H2, there are now two options on the table. The option that Microsoft prefers is that you switch to Windows 11. The introduction of the latest version of the operating system is not progressing as quickly as hoped.
Only fifteen percent of Windows users are already using Windows 11, although the latest figures are from late 2022. The incompatibility with the system requirements remains a bottleneck for many users.
Of course, if your device isn’t qualified for Windows 11 or you’re not in a hurry to upgrade, you can just upgrade your device to a new version of Windows 10. Windows Update automatically achieves a feature update for home and non-home users – end of support for managed corporate devices. For example, the average user doesn’t have to do anything to continue enjoying support.
You can also postpone this automatic update to a time that suits you better. For managed devices, the IT admin has control over updates. Windows 10 will continue to be supported until October 2024.
