Video: Dalai Lama sparks controversy after kissing boy on lips

A video showing the spiritual leader of the Tibetan people, the Dalai Lama, kissing a baby and asking him to suck his tongue has sparked controversy since being posted on social media.

The international media have circulated video clips captured during a religious ceremony held in February this year, according to the publication.

First, the 87-year-old Dalai Lama asks the boy to give him kiss on the mouthto which the minor, approximately eight years old, agrees.

In the video, you can hear the audience cheering and laughing along with Dalai Lama when you kiss him

Moments later the priest asks him suck tongueand although the boy disagrees, the religious leader keeps sticking out his tongue as the audience laughs again.

On his official Twitter account Central Tibetan Administration reports that the images were taken during a meeting with students and members of the M3M Foundation in the courtyard of Thekchen Choeling Tsuglakhang.

“His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama advised young indian admire a good person who is always working to cultivate peace and happiness in the world,” the agency said.

In 2019, the Dalai Lama also sparked controversy when he said in an interview that a woman could be his successor, but she had to be attractive.

In a statement released through his office, he acknowledged that he made the comment and assured that he did not intend to be offensive, for which he regrets that people were offended and apologizes to them sincerely.
