Loongson Technology introduced the Loongson 3D5000 32-core processor. A year ago it was known about its development, but only now the manufacturer from the Celestial Empire made an official presentation. This is a model for the server segment, it is not suitable for installation on ordinary personal computers.
The 3D5000 processor does not use ARM architecture, it is based on its own development LoongArch ISA. According to its authors, it is four times faster than the British ARM. In fact, it is the dual-processor LS3C5000 introduced earlier this year.
The innovation is built on two chips with 16 LA464 cores. Each chip is produced using a 12 nanometer process. The cores can run at a frequency of 2 GHz, consuming 130 W of electricity. In overclocking mode, power consumption increases by 40 W when the frequency reaches 2.2 GHz. The processor uses 64 MB of third-level cache and supports DDR4-3200 RAM.
The test sample is made in LGA 4129 case, its thermal pack is 300 W and the performance of FP64 is 1 TFLOPS. It is reported that four Loongson 3D5000 processors can be installed on one card. Loongson Technology plans to start supplying relevant partners in the first half of this year.
