YouTube Premium offers many features for $11.99 per month that standard free YouTubers don’t have. These include no video or banner ads, background video playback while using other apps, downloading for offline viewing, and full access to YouTube Music. Today, YouTube owner Google announced a host of new features that are now or soon available for YouTube Premium subscribers.

In a blog post, Google said that iOS users will get an improved 1080p bitrate option for video playback in the coming weeks. google said:

While all users will still have access to 1080p, this advanced 1080p quality setting will look extremely crisp and clear, especially for videos with a lot of detail and movement.

This feature will also be added soon as a “trial” for YouTube Premium web users.

Google will also add the ability to share YouTube videos with others. Android users with a premium subscription can use Meet Live Sharing through Google Meet sessions. Session participants can watch the same YouTube video together, even if some don’t have a Premium subscription. iOS device owners will also get the same feature over Face Time in the coming weeks.
