According to the Russian newspaper Kommersant, the cost of such subscriptions starts from 20 rubles, depending on the seller and the subscription period. Also, there are messages on the dark web about VPN subscriptions, as well as the service for updating accounts.
Sellers on the darknet often act as stores of digital goods and attract potential buyers with services such as automatic delivery of products or 24-hour technical support.
Interestingly, the vast majority of such ads are fraudulent.
- In the last few days alone, about 60 ads have popped up on Russia’s Avito site for the sale of access to Spotify.
- Some are offers to join a foreign family account.
- Many ads also offer access to Netflix and sale of access to the free VPN Windscribe service.
It is also noted that about 40% of such ads placed on the dark web and closed access sources are fake, but you can check this only after purchase.
In one of the “specialized markets” in the Russian segment of the network, some sellers raised their subscription prices last month 30%.
We will remind you that after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, work on the territory of the aggressor country was stopped by a number of companies. Among them are such giants as Netflix and Spotify – they completely abandoned the Russian market and stopped operating their services in the country.
