Firefox 112 was recently released as a new version of the Mozilla web browser, which this time comes with the ability to view passwords with a right-click, an important addition for Ubuntu users, and the ability to restore a session using a hotkey.

The right-click password display issue isn’t something that needs a lot of explanation, so we’ll focus on adding it for users Ubuntu will now be able to import browsing data from Chromium builds in Snap format. We remember that Canonical, the company responsible for Ubuntu, decided some time ago to ship Firefox in its own universal package format, Snap. Many did not like this and there were not a few users of the Linux distribution who showed their disapproval, but Canonical did not back down, especially when they saw that Mozilla was involved in the development.

The isolation provided by universal package formats such as Snap and Flatpak is another barrier when it comes to integrating applications into a system or making applications interact with each other. On the other hand, and although not widespread among Windows and macOS users, the use of Chromium in its native format is common among Linux users, so this little addition has more value than meets the eye.

Moving on to more general basics, in Firefox 112 it is possible to close tabs by middle-clicking on items in the list available to the right of the tab bar. On the other hand, keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+T (Windows and Linux) or Cmd+Shift+T (macOS), which allows you to open recently closed tabs, is also able to restore sessions that were active on these cards.

To improve protection against cross-site tracking, the list of tracking parameters known to be removed from a URL has been expanded for all users using Firefox Enhanced Tracking Protection in strict mode. The JavaScript U2F API, which was marked as deprecated, is now disabled by default, although it can be restored via preferences security.webauth.u2f preference.
