Kirby’s return to Dream Land Deluxe brings one of the best titles of our beloved little pink ball, translated in Europe at the time as Kirby’s Adventure Wii. It was originally a 2D adventure for the Wii console, but after a spectacular facelift, Nintendo delights us with a beautiful, fun and very complete adventure that will undoubtedly interest fans of the franchise.

Inside platform genre, Kirby titles are never wrong. Since 1992, they have been able to consolidate their position on the market without losing their freshness. They may not be the most demanding option, but in each new installment they provide us with hours of fun with careful aesthetics and cute characters that have won the unconditional affection of players.

A simple story, sometimes you don’t need more

Nintendo didn’t complicate things in this regard and I don’t think it was necessary, they present us with a nice story for all viewers and they also leave us with a surprise at the end.

This adventure is neither more nor less what you might expect, and simple development across its platforming screens, interspersed with levels of final enemies that increase in difficulty as you progress. It’s a straightforward and fun game, full of action and with a high quality aesthetic aspect. Both the environment and the character design remain true to the saga, with a small change in appearance to adapt to the present day and of course the transition from the original title’s 2D to 3D. In addition, on this occasion you will be able to experience the story with an escort, because it was local cooperative game for up to three other players.

In addition to completing the main plot, you can also collect collectibles, try out its wide variety of mini-games, and a few other secrets that I won’t reveal yet.

A fight more colorful than fireworks

From the beginning of the adventure, we will be able to use Kirby’s main characteristic, absorbing everything that stands in our way. And it is that there will be certain enemies who will give us their power and appearanceit will be very useful for us both in fighting and solving puzzles and getting collectibles, in this case some devices that will unlock optional screens that will test our expertise with Kirby’s different abilities, these levels are only available for single player.

At certain points in the main plot, enemies will appear with a glowing aura that will grant us for a limited time, “super abilities», enhanced versions of normal skills that destroy enemies and even scenery. They aren’t very useful, it’s an excuse to mash the ability button until you run out of energy. Of course they are spectacular.

This may seem like an extremely simple title, but wait until you get past the first round before passing judgment. The best comes right after the end creditswhich will unlock access to three new modes, with a very different difficulty than we’ve found so far.

The game when the game ends

If you want to get the most out of this Kirby piece, it won’t be easy. You have a good number of hours to complete this adventure 100% additional content, minigames and challenges.

We start with extra mode, which basically restarts the main story with a much more challenging difficulty and a special surprise. The game’s game mode is also returning Colosseum, where you have to defeat the bosses of the different levels one by one again, and if that already seems difficult, add that you have a limited number of objects to restore life between fights. The witcher has lost his powers and you’ll have to help him get them back through four levels (with several extra screens and levels as well as their corresponding boss) and a rather hellish final battle with several stages that will require all of your attention to get through. This story works perfectly and has a quality that matches the main plot.

It’s a radically different experience than the Kirby character, with abilities and other special features a complete turn to the combat system and to the platform screens. You can forget about absorbing enemies, here you will have to unlock your moves, attacks and blocks, tricks to overcome puzzles and much more. All of these techniques can be improved to better deal with screens that suffocate you. With the first victory over the final boss of each level, you also unlock new options. It is very smart to introduce this progression because motivates players repeat missions, pay for upgrades and get the highest score in each sub-level. This game mode lasts around 3-4 hours, but it all depends on how perfect you want your score to be on their screens. And don’t forget you can enjoy it in local co-op too.

This remake achieved excellent both visually and technically. The controls are more refined than in the original version, with a greater variety of abilities, cosmetics and endless extra content. Some things did not need to be changed, for example the basic design of the levels, a sample of the quality that its first version already had. The art of the game is a pleasurewith meticulously detailed character design, a vibrant color palette that works perfectly, and detailed backgrounds, all complemented by excellent animation qualitywith its own personality reflected in the movement of each character.

By adapting the Wii Switch controls, they achieved a much smoother and more comfortable gameplaywith a clear improvement in specific circumstances such as underwater mobility or the abilities of certain forces. As for the sound, the soundtrack stays true to the original’s recognizable and adorable themes, with improved sound quality and some new tunes for the bonus content. The sound effects are also up to par and the dubbing, while almost non-existent, leaves us with very good translations in their written dialogue, with some pretty funny winks. On a more technical level, you can’t complain either, the game is top notch in both portable and desktop mode.

In a nutshellI recommend this title. It gives us a good number of hours of gameplay, it will interest both fans of the saga and the platform genre, it has a varied difficulty range for the most demanding ones, once you get past the first round, it’s fun to watch. it reflects care in all its artistic aspects.
