Twitter has laid off more than 80% of its workforce since Musk took over.

Elon Musk’s Twitter company has laid off about 81% of its employees since the billionaire bought the social network for $44 billion last October.

As reported by Ukrinform, the BBC reported it.

According to Musk, it “was not easy” to reduce the workforce to about 1,500, from just under 8,000 at the time the company was acquired last fall.

Confessing that he didn’t fire everyone personally, he said, “It’s impossible to talk to so many people face to face.”

The departure of many Twitter engineers after Musk bought the company for $44 billion has raised concerns about the stability of the platform.

Musk acknowledged that there were some outages to the social network, including site crashes, but noted that the outages were short-lived and the site is now up and running.

Speaking about the company’s finances, Musk noted that Twitter is now “roughly at par” as most of its advertisers have returned.

As reported by Ukrinform, Twitter’s former CEO Parag Agrawal, former general counsel Vijaya Gadde and former CFO Ned Segal have sued the company, alleging it owes them more than $1 million in legal fees.
