Microsoft released an update for Windows 10 and Windows 11 on Tuesday as part of the traditional monthly update (Patch Tuesday). It is largely dedicated to improving security, but new features have also emerged. Microsoft fixed a total of 97 vulnerabilities in the update, including a zero-day vulnerability that was actively exploited by attackers and allowed SYSTEM-level privileges, the highest privilege in Windows.
Windows 10 update is available for supported versions 21H1, 21H2 and 22H2. Microsoft has also listed known issues that are still not fixed in the update. These include automatic removal of the old version of Microsoft Edge without subsequent automatic installation of the new version of Microsoft Edge.
The Windows 11 update for versions 22H2 (KB5025239) and 21H2 (KB5025224) also brings several functional improvements. For a small group of users, Microsoft account messages became available in the Start menu. In the coming months, the innovation will be widely available. The taskbar search box aligns better with the operating system’s custom color mode and immediately displays search results in a popup window as you type.
Also fixed issues with Notepad settings not displaying all available options, PowerPoint freezing, Microsoft Narrator crashes in Excel, and USB printer recognition.
