Canada’s ports of Montreal, Halifax and Quebec City were hit by cyberattacks that took their website down on Wednesday.
According to the Ukrinform correspondent, CBC News writes about it.
While it was stated that the websites of the ports of Montreal and Halifax were the victims of a DDOS attack, it was noted that the reason for the failure of the website of the port of Quebec was tried to be determined.
The administration of all three ports said that the cybercriminals did not damage the internal systems and did not interfere with the normal operation of the ports, but made communication somewhat difficult by depriving the public of the possibility of accessing the website.
Note that the ports of Montreal and Halifax are the second and fourth largest ports respectively in terms of cargo volume in Canada.
We should add that no one has yet claimed responsibility for the cyber-attack on the ports, but the official website of the Canadian Prime Minister on Tuesday and the website of the Senate on Monday fell victim to Russian hackers. It is noteworthy that these days Canada Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal made an official visit.
