Display specialist ViewSonic has introduced the new OMNI VX28 series, aimed at “casual gamers” who don’t want to spend too much on a dedicated monitor.

The monitor market is huge and offers a solution for every user or professional. The vast majority are general solutions for all computing uses, including work tasks, entertainment, and some specific features for PC gaming.

ViewSonic’s OMNI VX28 are of this type. Monitors that can be used for any type of task, but some include “winks” at the casual player. The series includes three different versions: OMNI VX2428, VX2728J and VX2728J-2K with screen sizes of 24 and 27 inches.

The most interesting is the VX2728J-2K, a monitor from 27 inches native resolution diagonal QuadHD (2560 x 1440 pixels), with a borderless three-frame layout. It supports AMD FreeSync Premium sync technology, which offers a 165Hz refresh rate and a 0.5ms MPRT response time to improve fluidity in games.

It has an ergonomic base for height adjustment and rotation, with connectivity options that include HDMI 1.4, DisplayPort 1.4, audio output and a USB port hub.

The other two models have similar specifications. The VX2428 offers 24 inches diagonal with FHD resolution, while the VX2728J adds 27 inches with the same resolution. The refresh rate and response time are the same as the top model, with FreeSync Premium support.

The prices are relatively cheap, within the reach of every user, and in some markets such as the United States, they are already available. An international release is expected soon:
