We’re working on an option in Microsoft Teams to specifically search for better results in chats or channels.
Searching for something in Microsoft Teams often feels like the procession from Echternach. Entering a search term at the top provides results on everything within teams in the (potentially) numerous channels and chats. With a bit of luck you will find what you are looking for thanks to a very specific search term, otherwise you have to scroll forever in the hope of finding the result.
Microsoft has finally understood that there is a more efficient way. An update is being worked on to be able to search specific channels or chats in the future. The results also appear in the right panel, so you can still stay in the flow of your work. Keywords you search for are highlighted in the results.
Unfortunately, we have to disappoint those who want to get started with the new update immediately after reading the above improvement. Microsoft holds June as a deadline in its roadmap.
Scrolling through the search results is a painful experience in the current Microsoft Teams client anyway. With every tiny movement, Teams has to request and display new information online, resulting in annoying loading times. Thankfully, Microsoft scraps those load times in Teams 2.0. Read here how to get started with the latest version.
