With the Manufacturing Data Cloud, Snowflake wants to support manufacturing companies in managing their supply chain and increasing the efficiency of the production process.
The Manufacturing Data Cloud is intended for various industries, from the automotive industry to energy suppliers. In many of these sectors, the supply chain is under pressure due to unfavorable macroeconomic conditions. Snowflake helps companies deal with this with its data cloud by freeing up critical data from silos.
The term “data cloud” may need some clarification. The company’s cloud-based solution includes data lake and data warehouse capabilities that enable organizations to bring data together across silos, but Snowflake goes beyond that. Because the data cloud enables companies to easily and securely share their data or parts of it with third parties or, conversely, to integrate third-party data sets with their own data.
Tailored to the industry
With Manufacturing Data Cloud, companies can build a data foundation for their business, improve supply chain performance, and support intelligent manufacturing initiatives in today’s digital industrial world. Data silos are being demolished to take in both IT and OT data and analyze it alongside third-party data.
The combination of proprietary and external data brings greater downstream and upstream visibility across the entire supply chain the company is part of. AI and ML models can then be used to predict demand as accurately as possible. Production can be streamlined while data from manufacturing is used to predict maintenance needs, analyze cycle times, improve product yield and quality, and meet sustainability goals.
Snowflake relies on its rich partner ecosystem and its marketplace offers both proprietary and third-party applications. Among other things, Tableau offers integrations for the Manufacturing Data Cloud.
“Data has never been more important as manufacturers embrace smart manufacturing initiatives and lead their businesses into an increasingly digital industrial world,” said Tim Long, Snowflake’s global head of manufacturing. “The Snowflake Manufacturing Data Cloud and our partner ecosystem give manufacturers and their suppliers access to the data, applications and services they need to effectively manage end-to-end supply chains, create new manufacturing efficiencies and better products and services to provide . services for their customers.”
