The FBI arrested this Thursday in the town of North Dayton, Massachusetts, the alleged author of a leak of classified documents that has shaken the United States in recent days and could become the most serious in a decade.

The FBI confirmed in a statement that it had made the arrest in North Daytona and, although it did not specify who exactly was arrested, the US media claims that it is Jack Teixeira, 21 and a member of the Massachusetts Air National Guard.

US television channels showed a large police device around a house in North Dayton de Teixeira, and helicopters flew over the surrounding area.

The authorities have not identified the author of the leak, but the newspapers Washington Post And New York Times On Thursday, they released the name of the suspect.

According to The Washington Post, Teixeira was able to gain access to classified information through his work as a computer technician at the Massachusetts Air National Guard Base.

After gaining access to the documents, Teixeira allegedly posted them on the Discord platform, popular among video game fans, in order to impress other young people.

Subsequently, these documents were distributed through other social networks such as Telegram and made it to the front pages of major newspapers around the world.

US President Joe Biden, who is visiting Dublin, said on Thursday that the Justice Department was “close” to learning more about the leak of classified Pentagon documents.

US Attorney General Merrick Garland will provide details at a press conference shortly.
