Today, the European Space Agency (ESA) successfully launched lSpace mission “Juice” to Jupiter. The Juice mission is one of the most ambitious launched by Europe as it plans to explore Jupiter and its three moons: Callisto, Europa and Ganymede.

One of the main goals of the Juice mission is to be able to map for the first time these three moons and identify them internal structuresince scientists believe that they could consist of masses of water.

Although the launch was scheduled for yesterday, April 13, weather conditions did not allow. However, today the rocket took off Aryan 5 from the Kourou spaceport in French Guiana.

According to the ESA, the ship has already sent its first signals. The ship will turn its solar panels, which, according to the newspaper El País, “are the largest ever built for an interplanetary mission.”

The Juice mission is expected to arrive at Jupiter in July 2031where it will make 21 flybys of the satellite Callisto, two flybys of Europa and, finally, it will orbit the satellite of Ganymede, which is the largest satellite in the solar system. The Juice mission will end in 2035.

By examining the internal structure of the moons of Callisto, Europa and Ganymede, it will be possible to determine whether they can be habitable places for simple life forms like microbes.

This ambitious mission marks new era in space explorationfor for many years planets like Mars have been searched for signs of life, but Jupiter is the larger and more distant planet.

It is assumed that there may be life on the icy moons of Jupiter and Saturn, so this mission is very relevant, because if it is confirmed, it will also lead to the emergence exoplanets Ice moons have also been discovered and may be inhabited by simple life forms.

US plans to launch orbital probeClippers” at 2024 to study Europa’s satellite and its habitability.
