Earth Day is a worldwide event celebrated on April 22 each year. Notes the ecological diversity of the world And highlights ways to protect our planet. When we hear terms like “code red for humanity” and “climate change,” it may seem difficult to focus on the small actions that individuals and communities can take to address the climate crisis. But Earth Day aims to highlight how everyone can be a part of change.

Earth Day is an annual event that began in 1970 when 20 million Americans – 10 percent of the US population at the time – came together to demonstrate the importance of protecting our planet, according to the official Earth Day website EARTHDAY.ORG.

According to the official Earth Day website, today it works with more than 150,000 partners in more than 192 countries and affects 1 billion people. Earth Day celebrates our planet and highlights the need to hold industries accountable for their role in the environmental crisis.

Environmental problems have become so urgent and pervasive that scientists and environmental organizations say it is more urgent than ever to address climate change. Jane Goodall, a chimpanzee researcher for the past 60 years, is among scientists who want a systems-wide approach to learning how to protect our climate.

“None of us can do this alone. That’s pretty funny. The challenges are huge,” Goodall said at the 2021 California Conservation Summit available on YouTube.

“We need every organization that cares about the future of the planet to come together and find ways to share these small pools of money available and find ways to lobby with billionaires who have a lot of money to help us. We don’t need to fight and fight over funding,” Goodall added.

Every Earth Day has a theme, this year the official website says “Invest in our planet”. This thread is not only about talking about individual actions we can take to make the Earth cleaner, but also about how we spend our money on companies that take protecting the environment seriously.

“In 2023, we must unite again in partnership for the good of the planet. Businesses, governments and civil society share an equal responsibility to take action against the climate crisis and ignite the spark to accelerate change towards a green, prosperous and just future,” said EarthDay.org president Kathleen Rogers said in a statement: “We must unite in our fight for the green revolution and the health of future generations. Now is the time to invest in our planet,” Rogers continued.
