Windows 11 Live Disk build released – can be run from RAM

Developers from the NTDEV team presented their new creation, a compilation of the Windows 11 Pro operating system called Live11. This build is notable in that it can be written to a USB drive or memory card and then immediately booted without installing the system.

Live USB technology (formerly Live CD and Live DVD) is well known to Linux users, but less used with Windows. The Live11 version allows you to run the operating system, but the system does not allow you to download and install programs. At the same time, we note that this assembly will start working even on incompatible PCs, since there is no check for the presence of TPM 2.0 here.

After startup, the system is placed in RAM, which takes up about 4 GB on the RAM disk (the so-called virtual disk contained in RAM). Windows 11 Pro currently has build number 22621.1555. The defaults are Notepad, Paint, Scissors and Terminal. But there is no Microsoft Edge or any other browser like the Tiny11 collection of the same team.

The system uses less than 2GB of RAM (in addition to the 4GB it occupies on the RAM disk) and is very fast. You can download the system here, but it is not yet clear to what extent Microsoft allows such experiments.
