After an AI image generator, Adobe also wants to integrate AI into video editing with Firefly.

Last month, Adobe announced Firefly, a competitor for the AI image generator DALL-E. The unique thing about this tool is that it was trained using Adobe Stock images, so no copyrights. To get the makers even more on its side, Adobe plans to pay them to contribute training data as well.

AI visuals are a first step in Firefly’s development, but Adobe wants more. Now Firefly is announcing it for Premiere Pro and After Effects. Instead of static images, the tool can do much more. In a demo, we can see how you can colorize scenes simply by specifying textually how you want something to feel.

You can also do the same with the generation of sound effects and music. Need an extra B-roll? Specify what you would like and the tool will search for additional images to make an interview more dynamic. You can also send a textual transcript with all sorts of details. Thanks to Firefly you will automatically receive a script with scenes and sketches.

According to Adobe, the Firefly AI capabilities for video will be rolled out later this year. If you want to get a taste of it, you can register here to test the AI behind Firefly without video capabilities in the beta. What’s rolling out in May is editing videos in Premiere Pro through text.
