Ecuadorian President Guillermo Lasso threatened dissolve the National Assembly and announce early elections if they pass impeachment which the opposition groups bring against him, as he considers the accusations against him unfounded and pursuing only partisan goals.

Lasso’s impeachment trial, which if successful would have meant the resignation of Ecuador’s president, is based on the accusation of laundering of money which follows from the agreement signed by the public company Flopec, and which, according to the Accounts Chamber, caused the country about $6.1 million in damages.
