Fox Corp and Fox News settled a $787.5 million defamation lawsuit on Tuesday. Dominion Voting Systems, thus avoiding a lawsuit that would have criticized one of the world’s leading media outlets for its coverage false allegations of voter fraud in the 2020 US elections

The deal was announced by Fox. Dominion and the trial judge at the last minute, when the 12-member jury had already been selected on Tuesday morning and opening statements were about to begin.

Dominion sought $1.6 billion in damages in a lawsuit filed in 2021 presided over by Judge Eric Davis of the Delaware Supreme Court in Wilmington.

Executive President Dominion disclosed the amount of the agreement and stated that Fox confessed to lying about your company.

“We accept court decisions to declare false certain claims about Dominion. This agreement reflects Fox’s continued commitment to the highest standards of journalism. We hope that our decision to resolve this dispute with Dominion amicably, instead of the acrimony of litigation, let the country move forward on these issues,” Fox said in a statement.

The question in court was whether Fox was responsible for spreading false claims that voting machines Dominionbased in Denver were used to rig the 2020 US election in favor of Democrat Joe Biden against then Republican President Donald Trump.

Dominion claimed that the company suffered “huge and irreparable economic damage”.

The judge delayed the start of the trial by two days, apparently until the parties reached an agreement.

The deal saves Fox from the risk of some of its most famous figures being subpoenaed and questioned, including executives like Rupert Murdoch, the 92-year-old media mogul who heads Fox Corp, and Fox CEO Suzanne Scott. as well as hosts such as Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity and Janine Pirro.
