A warm nap that sounds like a hieroglyph: Ploov, from Stoov

The Stoov brand is only a newcomer here. And its opening letter in MC is Ploov, a wireless and rechargeable heating pad with different sizes and materials. Founded in the Netherlands in 2014, this company designs and manufactures thermal pads with infrared technology, with an elegant design and a sustainable philosophy that is reflected in both energy saving and the use of recycled and recyclable materials.

At first glance, this philosophy is clear to us, the box is a statement of intent. Made of cardboard with a simple pattern showing us some of their products, simple but with great taste. When we open it, we see a colorful interior in which the brand gives us a small presentation about its values. And at Stoov, their principles are clear: We heat people, not the planet. In addition, the box is ideally designed as a gift, because on the closing sticker we already find “This warm gift is for…”. For me, in this case for me.

In its catalog we find various products for personal heating, all with infrared technology that saves energy, wireless, easy to use, stylishly designed and made of sustainable materials. Something that is repeated throughout the catalog, especially the Ploov pillow, is the variety of finishes. For indecisive people like me, it’s almost overwhelming. In addition to being able to choose between different sizes and different materials (original, woven, velvet, wool, outdoor and premium Revyva), we have a choice between 4 and 10 colors depending on the model. The result is a variety of options for all tastes.

In our analysis, we had the opportunity to test the velvet finish of recycled PET, a classic look and pleasant to the touch, in the color of pink pepper.

Stoov’s Ploov is presented as an intelligent and sustainable alternative to heating that minimizes environmental impact and maximizes comfort. Its advantages, as they say from the brand, include, for example, saving on the energy bill, because you can charge it when the price of electricity is lower, and you can reduce the heating level to some extent when using it.

Based on data from the brand, they say that every degree less heating will save you 7% on energy costs, and they estimate that this translates to a saving of €49.92 per year if you load your pillow once a day. It should be remembered that this is not a cheap product. The particular model we had the chance to test costs €119.95, but depending on the size and finish, it can go up to €169.95.

Thermal regimes Ploov

It has three heating modes that you can select on a label that acts as a regulator. Temperatures range from 34°C to 42°C to suit any need. If you also run out of battery, you can use it while charging without any problem. In my experience these temperatures are really indicative and I have not experienced the pad reaching such a high temperature. I’m speaking from the experience of a Targaryen-level shower person, so it’s possible that someone else will notice a sufficient temperature. In my case, I can say that it is nice and warm, but I miss the higher temperature.

Ploov is version 2.0 of traditional electric blankets, but it functions as a pillow, so its use is not limited to autumn-winter. It can be charged anytime (even while you’re using it) and doesn’t need to be plugged in. In addition, you can take it with you on a long car journey and enjoy it too.

Its battery lasts from 2 and a half hours to a maximum of 5 hours depending on the temperature level at which we use it. Among the options to customize the product, where we choose the color and size, there is the option to add another battery for an extra €30, which would give us a duration between 4.5 and 9 hours. The charging time of the basic battery model is between 2 and 4 hours.

In the Stoov store we can find various accessories, such as covers for outdoor use (not because they cannot be used, but for the greater resistance of the materials) or longer-lasting batteries to extend their autonomy. There are also many covers, as we mentioned, simply to change their appearance or finish.

conclusions

The Ploov pillow from Stoov comes as a possible alternative to traditional electric blankets, which will help us reduce energy consumption and thus the electricity bill. Together with the careful design and high-quality surface treatments, thanks to the wireless technology, it can become a perfect addition to our home and anywhere.

Right now, the Ploov pillow can be purchased on the Stoov website and retail channels such as Amazon for between €89.95 and €169.95, depending on the size and finish chosen.
