Sonos begins rolling out Sonos Pro in the United States. This is a subscription formula with which the company intends to play its role in offices and catering establishments, among other things by offering central management.
Sonos launches a subscription service for business users in the US: Sonos Pro. Sonos Pro is a SaaS solution for multi-site organizations. The formula allows users to manage their Sonos systems distributed across different locations with a central dashboard. also access to personalized support and ad-free music licensing.
The service makes it possible to schedule playlists for specific moments, control access to the audio system so that not every employee can just put on their favorite music. Through Sonos wallpapers Customers get access to music by independent artists. Access to third-party music is also ingrained.
Sonos Pro works with any modern Sonos hardware that supports S2 software. Sonos expects the service to be of particular interest to restaurant or retail chains. Sonos charges $35 per month per location for the service. Since the necessary music rights were also paid for with this money, the offer is not unattractive.
The company plans to launch Sonos Pro outside of the US as well, but it’s unclear if and when the offering will come to Belgium. After all, Sonos has to negotiate with Sabam for this. That itself also charges around 35 euros per month for small occasions that want to play background music. In theory, Sabam has nothing to do with the rights Sonos has and offers through Sonos Pro.
In practice, we would be surprised if the rollout of a service like Sonos Pro could run smoothly here. The amount makes the service’s potential clear: you pay the same amount for Sonos Pro as you do for Sabam, but only one of the two actually gives you anything in return.
