Microsoft has started rolling out a new profile feature in Outlook for Mac that makes it easy for you to see a visual difference between work and personal messages. This reduces the chances of sending someone the wrong email or scheduling a meeting on the wrong calendar.
If you use both a business and a personal account in Outlook for Mac, you can easily switch via Control+ tab. Microsoft also allows automatic switching between Siri Shortcuts, so you can automatically switch to your personal account at the end of the workday, for example.
You can choose the colors that make clear what you work in and make them your own. In this way, you always have an overview of different inboxes, tasks and projects. You can also associate these profiles with Apple Focus filters in macOS to automate what needs to be done there as well.
This new update is currently only available to Microsoft 365 Insiders on version 16.70 (build 23021201) or higher. If you’re not a beta tester yet but want to get started with this feature, you can sign up to test it here or wait until it’s available to all users in the coming months.
Outlook for Mac has been available for macOS for free since early March. You no longer need a valid license or Microsoft 365 subscription. Easily add accounts from within the Mail app, including Gmail, iCloud, Yahoo, Exchange, Outlook.com, and IMAP. Outlook for Mac natively supports Apple’s own chips and has several notifications, widgets, and summary options in the menu bar. The application is available for free on the App Store for macOS.
