AUO is a specialist in the production of screens, which it sells under its own brand and also to third-party manufacturers, and took advantage of the framework of the fair touch Taiwan to introduce a top-of-the-line monitor that breaks records in refresh rate, the highest in the industry for its native resolution.

Monitors reach an impressive level supported by thrust Playing. And especially the spectacular ultra-panoramic ones like the one at hand. It is based on AUO’s PSA panel using technology GOES, perhaps the most balanced, as it is halfway between the advantages of TN and the image quality of IPS. We shelved OLED, still too expensive.

The AUO panel is big, very big, with his 49 inches diagonally. It has a static contrast ratio of 5,000:1, covers 95 percent of the DCI-P3 color gamut, and supports the HDR600 high dynamic range standard.

The screen is curved (and not a little), as it reaches a curvature radius of 1000R. It has a gray-to-gray response time of 1ms, although the most important data is a 360 Hz refresh ratethe highest we’ve seen yet for one of these ultra-widescreens at 5120 x 1440 pixels with a 32:9 aspect ratio.

Among AUO’s wide portfolio of clients, we do not know of any manufacturers that will use this panel. Ultrawide monitors are another of the current bets to support the sale of these peripherals. They are not for all users, but proponents of these types of formats for the desktop computer (of which I am fervently included) appreciate more horizontal display space which allows working with more windows open, greater immersion in video games and a seamless experience when watching movies.

Not all are benefits. Visible vertical space is lost, which can affect, for example, browsing the web or working with spreadsheets. Although its support has increased and every new game will support it, you may find older titles that don’t support it or don’t scale properly. In any case, the new AUO is really impressive.
