Telenet will also be very proud when it comes to consistency and will deliver the best mobile Internet there in 2023.

In the latest quarterly results from speed tester Ookla, Telenet remains the leader in fixed-line Internet and Telenet/Base in mobile Internet. By the way, that was the case for the whole of 2022. Below we show the difference in internet speed from year to year in Belgium in terms of fixed line internet.

Here you can see that each provider has taken a step forward. Proximus is climbing the fastest in Belgium thanks to fiber rollout, resulting in much higher internet speeds.

If we look at the consistency of the fixed internet and how often this speed is reached, we see that Telenet Voo has to go. Orange comes in third, but it’s also actually number one because it’s taking over Voo. It got the green light from Europe last month.

When it comes to mobile Internet, Telenet/BASE and Proximus are equal. The latter makes a big leap forward compared to the previous year. Orange is the only one taking a step back. Proximus and Orange will share their cellular infrastructure to achieve faster 5G adoption. Maybe that’s the key to a better figure in the future.

The consistency of mobile internet in Belgium is particularly high. It is striking that only Telenet has made a step forward and has passed the 90 percent mark. Proximus and Orange both pay something.

If we look at the national average of Belgium, we reach 54.45 Mbit/s in mobile internet and 88.30 Mbit/s in fixed line. This puts us in 39th and 45th place worldwide. You can find the top ten below.
