The United States Senate has dismissed the accusations brought by Republican senators and has approved a recently passed Veterans Affairs bill that guarantees access to abortion for former military women in various cases.
A resolution introduced by Alabama Senator Tommy Turville it failed with 48 votes in favor and 51 against.
Among the Republican senators who voted against the measure, which allows the U.S. Veterans Affairs Agency to abort ex-military women if their lives are in danger or if they become pregnant as a result of rape or incest, are Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins.
Thus, the two senators have joined Democrats in backing the divisive measure amid rising national tensions. Following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn in 2022 Roe vs. Wadewhich recognized women’s constitutional right to access the practice, according to CNN.
Before the vote, the President of the United StatesJoe Biden vowed he would veto such a resolution in the event that the Upper House supports her in her attempt to veto access to abortion in various cases for former military women.
