China’s Huawei Technologies said on Thursday that it has replaced internal software management systems it previously bought from US suppliers with its own version.

As reported by Ukrinform, this was reported by Reuters.

Huawei held an internal ceremony in Dongguan on Thursday to celebrate the transition to its own enterprise resource planning system called MetaERP.

ERP software is used by companies to manage important business operations, from accounting to supply chain management.

Tao Jingwen, the company’s board member and head of the quality, business processes and IT management department, said that Huawei’s MetaERP system is a “cloud” product that uses the company’s cloud computing systems for greater efficiency than traditional ERP products.

Tao added that the new system has been fully tested and processes 15 million lines of accounting records every day.

So far, on-premises MetaERP has been deployed on 80% of the company business.

The new system is a potential new business for the growing company as it tries to keep up with pressures from the US. According to Tao, the closure of access to the ERP system due to US restrictions was a “major crisis” for Huawei.

As reported, at the end of January this year, the US Administration decided to significantly strengthen export restrictions against Huawei by banning American companies from selling most of their technologies and goods.

A few years ago, Huawei faced a ban on the export of some 5G-related technologies from the US, but some products were still allowed to be sold.

However, following the new official policy is Huawei’s ban from transferring goods below 5G, including 4G, Wifi 6 and 7, artificial intelligence, powerful computing systems and cloud technologies.
