SpaceX is set to launch its biggest and most powerful rocket on Thursday and has been working nonstop since the first launch of a test flight failed earlier this week. At about 400 feet (120 meters) the Starship was ready to take off from the southern tip of Texas, near the Mexican border. SpaceX’s Elon Musk gave the spacecraft a 50-50 chance to reach orbit on its debut.

No missile will be saved. Instead, if all goes well, the first stage launch vehicle, dubbed the Super Heavy, will crash into the Gulf of Mexico. The overhead spacecraft would continue eastward, crossing the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific oceans before stopping near Hawaii. If successful, the entire flight will take only 1.5 hours.

The company plans to use Starship to send humans and cargo to the moon and eventually to Mars. NASA has reserved Starship for the next moon rover crew, and wealthy tourists are already booking trips to the moon. Plugged boost valve, Monday’s trial aborted.
