Self-driving technology is on the rise, and the parent company 99, Didi Chusin, has not stood aside in this technological race. The company announced during DiDi Auto Day 2023 in China, who has made great strides in autonomous driving technology.

DiDi Auto, the company’s autonomous driving R&D arm, demonstrated mastery in key Level 4 technologies such as perception, prediction, decision making and control. In addition, the company has developed large-scale simulation systems and machine learning platforms.

The company is also working in partnership with other companies in the autonomous driving supply chain to launch the next generation of autonomous services.

During the event, Didi spoke about important achievements. The company showcased the first autonomous vehicle maintenance center, the DiDi Neuron autonomous vehicle concept, two major autonomous driving hardware products, and the KargoBot autonomous cargo robot.

These achievements are extremely important for 99, which is the main urban mobility platform in Brazil and is controlled by DiDi Chuxing. With these technologies, the company will be able to improve the experience of its users and ensure safer travel.

DiDi is getting closer and closer to making autonomous driving a reality for the world, and the 99 will certainly be one of the beneficiaries of this technology.

The cars are expected to go on sale in 2025.

DiDi Chuxing plans to include the first production model of its self-driving cars in the company’s fleet in 2025. The initiative will provide a seamless 24-hour passenger service, according to DiDi Auto CEO Zhang Bo.

DiDi intends to work with its partners to produce autonomous vehicles that will be parked at its autonomous operations center. These vehicles will be able to take orders and move automatically during the day, returning to the operations center at night for charging, maintenance and cleaning, all automated by robots.

Despite the financial and regulatory challenges the company has faced, the progress of the autonomous driving project has not been affected. DiDi formed its R&D team in 2016, and established DiDi Auto as an independent company in 2019.

DiDi already allows autonomous vehicles to be used in certain areas of Shanghai and Guangzhou through its transportation app. Passengers can select the “autonomous driving” option on the DiDi app and request a self-driving car to use the service offered by the company.

DiDi Autonomous COO Meng Xing announced that the company has been operating safely for 1,020 consecutive days without any traffic accidents. In addition, Meng Xing revealed that DiDi’s “Autonomous Vehicle Safety Report” will be released soon, outlining the safety rules and expectations for the company’s autonomous vehicles.
