The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida released a statement Thursday saying Judge Paul G. Byron has sentenced Johnson, 35, who pleaded guilty to the charges in December 2022.

According to court documents, Johnson illegally shipped firearms to the British city of Rugby between December 2019 and January 2020.

According to these facts, Johnson is accused of misappropriation unemployment benefit for American workers who needed help due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Special Agent Jonathan Carson of the US Department of Commerce, who leads the case, said of the first of the crimes that “the illegal smuggling of firearms from the United States is a serious violation of export control laws.”

Special Agent in Charge Katrina W. Berger, who oversees National Security Investigation (HSI) operations, said for her part that “disrupting the international flow of illegal weapons inevitably saves lives and reduces crime.”
